Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Guitar Codex mobile application (the "App"), made by Campcheck Interactive LLC ("we," "us"), handles information. We built Guitar Codex to be privacy-respecting by default: it works without an account and keeps your data on your device wherever possible.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or contact information through the App — unless you choose to share it through the optional feedback form (see "Feedback You Send Us" below). We do not use third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
Your preferences and learning progress — such as theme choice, tuning settings, and which lessons you've completed — are stored locally on your device using standard app storage. This information stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and is removed if you delete the App.
3. Microphone
The tuner uses your device's microphone to detect the pitch of your guitar in real time. This audio is processed entirely on your device to show the note and tuning meter. It is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere, and the App releases microphone access when you leave the tuner. Your device will ask for your permission before the microphone is first used, and you can revoke it any time in your device's Settings app.
4. Purchases
Guitar Codex offers optional one-time purchases. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), and we use RevenueCat to manage and verify purchase entitlements (for example, to know whether you've unlocked Pro or Complete and to restore purchases across your devices).
- We never see or store your payment card or full store account details.
- To manage purchases, RevenueCat processes purchase records and an app-generated identifier. This is used to deliver what you bought — not to track you across other apps or services, and not to advertise to you.
- Apple's, Google's, and RevenueCat's own privacy policies govern the data they process. See Apple's Privacy Policy and RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
5. Feedback You Send Us
The App includes an optional "Send Feedback" form (Profile → Send Feedback). This is the one place where information leaves your device for our servers, and it only happens when you tap Submit. When you send feedback, we receive:
- The category you picked and the message you wrote.
- Your email address, only if you choose to enter it — the field is optional and is used solely to reply to your feedback.
- Basic device context to help us reproduce problems: platform (iOS/Android), OS version, device model, and app version.
Feedback is stored in our private development issue tracker, where only our team can see it, and is used only to fix bugs and improve the App. Our server briefly processes your IP address to prevent abuse of the form (rate limiting); it is not stored with your feedback. Please don't include sensitive personal information in a feedback message. To have a feedback submission deleted, contact us at the address below.
6. How Information Is Used
The limited information described above is used only to make the App work — to remember your settings and progress, run the tuner, deliver and restore purchases you've made, and respond to feedback you send us. We do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
7. Children's Privacy
Guitar Codex is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App works without an account, and the only personal information it can send us is what's typed into the feedback form; if a child has submitted personal information there, a parent or guardian can contact us below and we will delete it.
8. Your Choices
- Revoke microphone access any time in your device's Settings → Guitar Codex.
- Delete all locally stored settings and progress by deleting the App.
- Send feedback without an email address — the field is optional — or ask us to delete a past submission.
- Manage or request a refund for purchases through your app store account.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected here on this page.
